Vrk

Ján Šicko, 2014

Going by the name of „wolf-cub“, there is a well-known traditional children’s toy which is based on the principle of sustained movement round a vertical axis. The speed of rotation changes the colour shades and the shapes depicted. Vrk is a toy consisting of six wooden discs, on both sides of which traditional and also experimental geometrical shapes are imprinted. The individual elements may be combined into various sets. Thanks to the axial movement, the object creates original patterns. The toy develops the gentle motorics in children and shows the basic principles of colour mixing in a striking way.
